As of May 6, 2020, members of the Finance, Governance and Public Safety Committee have decided to suspend action to replace the Auditorium Parking Garage and Barney Allis Plaza. Rather, at this time they have elected to fund restoration of various life-safety systems at the existing parking garage and plaza.

Ordinance 200225: Design-Build Competition
On Wednesday, May 6, the Finance, Governance and Public Safety Committee voted 4-2 to hold Ordinance 200225 indefinitely. This ordinance would have provided the funds for the Barney Allis Redevelopment project to move forward with the Design-Build competition for the parking garage and plaza. In effect, this action tables the redevelopment of Barney Allis.

Ordinance 200329: Two- to Three- Year Repair
On Wednesday, May 6, the Finance, Governance and Public Safety Committee recommended unanimously that Ordinance 200329 be passed by the full City Council.

On Thursday, May 7, the full Council voted 10-2 and passed the ordinance. This ordinance appropriates funds to restore the failed life-safety systems and address code violations at the existing parking garage and plaza. The repairs will make approximately 595 parking spaces out of the original 975 spaces available for use. The remaining 380 spaces will be out of service indefinitely.
