About the Project

Located in the heart of Kansas City, Barney Allis Plaza offers visitors a critical first impression of downtown. Re-imagined from its current state, the future street-level plaza will be a world-class destination in the heart of Kansas City and a thriving, arts-focused greenspace for residents and visitors alike.

From small gatherings to signature events, it will feature a variety of amenities designed to support the community, create a massive draw for business and tourism sectors, and showcase Kansas City. Future amenities include, but are not lmited to the following:

  • flexible, open lawn spaces
  • dog park
  • children’s play space
  • paved event plaza
  • pavilion plaza with space for food and beverage

The historic Barney Allis Plaza, an iconic landmark in Kansas City, stands as a testament to the city’s enduring spirit and commitment to progress. From its construction in 1955, and redevelopment in 1985, to its upcoming redevelopment aimed to be completed in the summer of 2026, Barney Allis Plaza has continuously evolved to meet the needs of a growing and dynamic city.

Parking Information

The Kansas City Convention Center is located in the heart of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. All major highways feed into the downtown area providing easy access to convention and entertainment facilities. There are multiple parking options to access Convention Center facilities including the Municipal Arena, Music Hall, Grand Ballroom, Little Theatre, Conference Center and Bartle Hall.
