Downtown visitors may notice increased activity at Barney Allis Plaza and Auditorium Parking Garage as the project team is in the process of starting the manual demolition.
Workers are installing construction banners on the concrete barriers around the perimeter of Barney Allis Plaza. Renderings of the future Plaza space will be visible from all four streets encompassing the area. The banners also feature a QR code for easy access to the Barney Allis website and more information about what’s to come.
Banner installation is anticipated to be complete next week, as well as the placement of two large signs with the project team and visions of how the Plaza will be used.
If you travel to downtown in a vehicle or are walking around the area, please remember:
Pedestrian Impacts
- For your safety, do not enter the construction zone or bypass the established perimeter barriers.
- All four sidewalks are closed on the Barney Allis Plaza side of the street.
- Please use the sidewalks on the opposite side of the streets.
Traffic Impacts
- Two lanes westbound remain open on 13th Street.
- Two lanes northbound remain open on Central Street.
- One lane eastbound is open on 12th Street.
- This is due to the existing garage extending into the street underground.
- One lane in each direction, both north and south, remains open on Wyandotte Street.
- Traffic lanes are more narrow.
